Over 10% Of Characters On TV Are Now LGBTQ – PolitiFeed

Do you ever find yourself watching television and going “why the heck are there so many gay people all over the place?” It’s not like you see them all the time in society. They make up a very small portion of the country. Yet, they are seemingly the focus of every show.

That’s being done on purpose.

The annual “Where Are We On TV” report was released by GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) that has folks in the LGBTQ community cheering…

This from The Hollywood Reporter:

The report, published Thursday, indicates overall significant growth in diversity, with LGBTQ characters comprising 10.2 percent of all series regulars on primetime scripted broadcast shows. (That is a 1.4 percent increase from last year’s 8.8 percent.) The updated figure signals the highest percentage that GLAAD has uncovered since it began tracking such data in the 2005-06 season.

“Last year, GLAAD called on the television industry to increase the number of LGBTQ characters and more accurately reflect the world we live in, and they responded by exceeding this challenge,” Sarah Kate Ellis, president and CEO of GLAAD, said in a statement. “At a time when the cultural climate is growing increasingly divisive, increased representation of LGBTQ stories and characters on television is especially critical to advance LGBTQ acceptance. Shows like Pose, Schitt’s Creek, Batwoman and Billions demonstrate that not only are LGBTQ stories and characters on TV becoming more diverse, but that viewers everywhere continue to respond with extreme positivity.”

Yep, this is where all that “tolerance” gets us. Now we’ve got boys doing drag, drag queens reading to children, and an entire generation of kids who are going to question their gender. Thanks a lot GLAAD.

THE LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL

“Among those characters, 22% are black, 13% are Latinx and 8% are Asian Pacific Islander, which represents an equal high for black and Asian Pacific Islander characters since last year and a new high for Latinx characters,” the report continued. “Of all the broadcast networks, ABC offers the most Latinx representation, largely due to the cast of its upcoming comedy ‘The Baker and the Beauty’ and recently canceled series ‘Grand Hotel.’”

Oh, that’s great. You really need to make sure that you’ve got the right colored gay people. You don’t want to misrepresent the population… You know… The one that is 99% heterosexual, otherwise referred to as “normal”.

Honestly, 10% is EXTREMELY HIGH in terms of representation. That’s like 5x the population.

Ellis called on the entire entertainment industry to increase LGBTQ representation by up to 20% by the year 2025.”Yet, our community finds itself in 2019 facing unprecedented attacks on our progress,” continued Ellis. “GLAAD is calling on the industry to ensure that 20% of series regular characters on prime scripted broadcast series are LGBTQ by 2025. The role of television in changing hearts and minds has never been more important. Indeed, our nation’s cultural institutions are being called to stand in the gap at this tumultuous time in the history of our movement for full acceptance.”

Holy cow, these people want to make up one out of every five main characters? Look lady, not all of us are gung-ho about this whole promoting homosexuality thing. In fact, there are a lot of people who might do something drastic if popular culture gets to the point where 20% of the people we see are encouraging homosexuality.

We have young impressionable minds to protect here. Acknowledging that television is changing hearts and minds is exactly why God fearing Americans don’t want degenerate behavior promoted even more than it already has been.

There’s a culture war coming, and these dudes in high heels won’t know how to fight back.
